On a sunny evening in August, car enthusiasts and supporters gathered to honor our nation’s wounded warriors at the Purple Heart Car Show. This was WWFS’s first car show and was a roaring success. The event showcased a remarkable display of exotic, modified, and classic cars, coupled with live music by the Outback Variety Band, and most importantly, fundraising to support a new mobility-equipped vehicle for a deserving wounded American service member and their families.
The event was held at Victory Lane Omaha, Omaha’s only community of fully customizable garage units. These units house some of the area’s finest cars and the “car condos” are each different, owners of the bays build their units to fit their needs and desires. These garages give owners a unique and secure location to store their vehicles and also an amazing opportunity to share their vehicles with others.
Local car club, Depreciating Assets, partnered with WWFS to assist with organizing and getting the word out to fill up the open area at Victory Lane with well over 100 cars that showed up to the event. Cars were sorted by general type and if they could stay the entirety of the event. Many local car shows there is a large group of vehicles that come and go throughout the event.
The Purple Heart Car Show was more than a celebration of cars. It was a way for the community to come out and support our veterans. All of us who attended the event, either as volunteers, vehicle owners, or patrons, felt like we were part of something bigger, a celebration of our nation’s true heroes. Let us continue to support our military family and the companies that serve the veteran community. For anyone looking for a fantastic day out or an opportunity to help our wounded warriors, the Purple Heart Car Show should be on your calendar for next year. It’s an event not to miss.
