Dunham House Now Accepting Applications for Fall 2026 Opening

Dunham House accepting applications for veteran residents

Dunham House, an innovative assisted-living facility for veterans wounded in battle, is now accepting applications. Set to open in the fall of 2026, this facility marks a significant milestone in providing specialized care for those who have sacrificed so much.

A Home of Honor

Kate McCauley, President and CEO of Wounded Warriors Family Support, expressed pride in this pioneering initiative. “We are so proud to show what we are doing for our veterans. This is the first of its kind,” she said. Dunham House will serve as a home of honor for veterans who have lost multiple limbs or suffered traumatic brain injuries.

Inspired by a Hero

The facility is named in recognition of Corporal Jason Dunham, who heroically sacrificed himself by throwing his body over a grenade to save his fellow Marines. He was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his bravery 21 years ago.

Preparing to Welcome Veterans

Following the groundbreaking in May, Dunham House is preparing to welcome 30 combat-wounded veterans into their new home next year. “We have veterans that are waiting for this to be built already, so we do anticipate a waiting list,” McCauley noted.

Fostering Community and Dignity

The goal of Dunham House is to create a community, not isolation. “We’re hoping that the veterans want to congregate together and not just be isolated in their rooms. Our veterans have been injured for over twenty plus years,” McCauley explained. The project emphasizes dignity and remembrance of the veterans’ sacrifices.
