A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is one of the most tax-smart ways to support military families. If you are 70½ or older, you can give directly from your IRA to Wounded Warriors Family Support — up to 05,000 per year. Because the gift transfers straight to WWFS, it is not counted as taxable income, and it can satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD).
Your IRA can do more than fund your retirement — it can help the families of wounded, ill, and injured service members rebuild their lives.
Making a QCD is straightforward:
- Confirm you are 70½ or older and have a traditional IRA.
- Ask your IRA administrator to send a distribution directly to Wounded Warriors Family Support.
- Choose your amount — up to 05,000 per year.
- Let us know your gift is on the way so we can thank you and send your acknowledgment.
The funds must move directly from your IRA to WWFS. A check made payable to you first does not qualify.
A QCD offers advantages a regular withdrawal does not:
- The distribution is excluded from your taxable income.
- It can satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year.
- You may give up to 05,000 per year (10,000 for couples with separate IRAs).
- You benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions.
Please consult your tax advisor about your particular situation.
Your administrator will need our legal name, mailing address, and Tax ID:
