Wounded Warriors Family Support (WWFS) was proud to assist US Army Staff Sergeant Beth King with her purchase of a new 2024 Chevy Traverse. SSG King was awarded a $30,000 vehicle grant by the Mobility is Freedom Program. The program is designed to allow combat-wounded veterans with amputations to select and purchase vehicles and mobility modifications as needed to safely operate the vehicle and regain the freedoms of mobility.
Beth King enlisted in the United States Army in January of 2009. She was a 15U or better known as a chinook maintainer and crew chief. She deployed to Afghanistan October 2010-October 2011. In July of 2011 while on a mission my aircraft was hit by an RPG resulting in a traumatic brain injury.
She developed a slew of neurological issues, over time which developed into complex regional pain syndrome. Which resulted with her being put in a wheelchair. Being desperate for a better quality of life after all other treatments were exhausted, she decided to amputate her foot so that she could have a chance to walk again and get back the activities she had previously lost.
“Thank you to WWFS, I now have a vehicle I can drive, and I am able to finish my school and move forward with all my goals. I just want to thank everyone that makes these grants possible you are truly changing lives.” – SSG Beth King
